TWO LEADERS IN SECURITY TECHNOLOGY JOIN FORCES Cape Town, 9 July 2009: Visec Surveillance Systems, one of the world's leading developers and distributors of license plate recognition software and surveillance systems this month joined forces with Sentronics, one of the top distributors of video surveillance equipment (CCTV) in South Africa. In line with the global move towards internet protocol (IP) technology, this partnership takes IP technology to a new level through clever integration of Visec software and Sentronics hardware portfolio. Gary Scagell, CEO of the 10-year-old Visec, said, "The partnership is mutually beneficial and in my opinion will revolutionise the security industry in South Africa. Sentronics has a high reaching distribution network and offers a broad range of hardware to the smaller channel market via systems integrators and resellers. Visec offers compatible software for network video recorders, remote viewers and back office systems as well as license plate recognition software which runs over IP (internet protocol). Combined, the two companies' offer systems integrators, resellers and ultimately end users with the simplest, most comprehensive security solution. "Now system integrators and resellers are able to purchase the hardware with the compatible software through Sentronics as a bundle. Unlike offerings of many other similar companies, Visec software is compatible with most brands, and can support Sentronics camera and optic products," said Scagell. Over the next six months, Sentronics will be phased in as Visec's main distribution partner. Bernard Senekal, MD of Sentronics said, "We've managed to support multiple technology platforms through our chosen strategic partners, thereby improving operational efficiency across various verticals such as mining, retail and financial services sectors. In addition to forming the partnership with Visec, we will support their product internally and to the respective markets directly the way we know best." Prior to the Visec partnership, Sentronics also formed partnerships with PELCO Inc and Axis Communications and have access to some of the most popular CCTV brands recognised globally. They distribute a wide variety of international manufacturers such as Arecont Vision, VIVOTEK Inc, Sunell, Averdigi and Promise Technology. "Forming new relationships are imperative to this business "says Bernard Senekal, MD of Sentronics. "The new partnership with Visec is a positive move and once again clients can source a proven product that allows for the integration of various network video products such as VIVOTEK, Arecont Vision and AXIS. We see Visec software as a valuable addition to our portfolio and model of distribution of solutions."
Both Visec and Sentronics are significant players in the security industry. Visec offers security solutions in South Africa, the USA, UK and Europe and distributes through global partnerships in over 60 countries. Visec software is currently being used highly effectively for crime fighting purposes, on the streets, in residential developments and in corporate and industrial buildings. However, the surface has only been scratched in terms of uses for the software. "We're entering new territory, and we're embarking on a partnership that is in harmony with our business objectives, but will also create a new dimension to the South African security and surveillance technology industry," concludes Scagell. The Visec head office is located in Kenilworth, Cape Town with research and development headquarters located in Northridge California. Visit www.visec.co.za - Ends -
